The terrier is considered balanced in its nature. However, he can react lightning fast and sometimes aggressively in defensive situations.

In addition, he is rather suspicious of strangers. With acquaintances, however, he behaves cuddly and friendly. That is why terriers are now considered a popular family dog.
They have a comparatively long lifespan and can live up to 14 years.

Give the dog ample opportunity to exercise. Otherwise he can become hyperactive and will destroy objects around him.
You should brush the terrier’s coat two to three times a week to keep it from matting. You also need to trim hair that grows toward the eyes to prevent infection.

The same applies to hair on the ears.
You should trim his coat at one to two month intervals. Grooming is for the well-being of the dog. It also strengthens your bond. Also, keep an eye on the length of his claws and clip them if necessary.

In the 1940s, the army kennel Red Star began breeding its own breed of dogs. They wanted a large, almost massive and robust spirited dog. This should be able to come to terms with the contrasting climatic conditions of the Soviet Union.
They based themselves on the findings of Soviet cynologists and created four breeding lines.
These consisted of several pairings:
a male Giant Schnauzer with a female Airedale Terrier, a male Rottweiler with a female Giant Schnauzer, and a male Giant Schnauzer with a female Airedale Terrier.

A total of 20 breeds were used to breed the dog. The result is a terrier that can vary greatly in appearance. His temperament remains largely constant from dog to dog. The breed is willing to work. Thus, he was excellent for guarding borders.

He can also protect certain objects.
