Character Chart Polski

The Chart Polski, also known as the Polish Greyhound, is a Group 10 Polish dog breed recognized by the FCI. The males grow up to 80 cm and the females up to 75 cm. They weigh about 30 kg. The dog has a life expectancy of approximately 11 years. He is evenly proportioned and more muscular and stronger compared to other greyhounds.

The breed is very robust and there are no known hereditary diseases. The Chart Polski has short, close-lying hair that is finer on the belly and slightly longer on the tail and legs. Its coat of hair comes in all colors.
The Chart Polski behaves confidently and courageously towards other dogs, which often makes socialization difficult. It is best kept as the only dog.

However, he shows a reserved nature towards people. He behaves lovingly and patiently and binds himself closely to his master. Therefore, with the right consistency, he is a dog that you can easily train. Only his innate hunting instinct needs to be controlled.
He has a lot of stamina and therefore needs sporty people who move a lot, regular walks are not enough.

The Chart Polski is also suitable as a dressage or guard dog.

Diet Chart Polski

The Chart Polski is a strong, hardy dog that has no different dietary requirements than other dog breeds. His diet should therefore be balanced and contain all the essential nutrients. Every dog should be fed according to the needs of their age and personal health. In addition, it is always good if the food is free of industrial additives.

Caring for the Chart Polski is uncomplicated. He doesn’t have any particularly common diseases. In addition, his short coat is very easy to care for. It’s still important that you brush him regularly. Especially on the legs, especially on the back of the buttocks.

Its fur grows a little longer there than on the rest of its body, so it needs more grooming.

The Chart Polski probably originated from a cross between the Asian sighthounds of the Salkui genus and domestic hunting dogs in Poland. The breed has existed almost unchanged for many centuries, although some crosses occurred in the 19th century. Since the 13th century it has had almost the same characteristics as today. He used to be a popular dog among the nobility. That is why he appeared frequently in literature, especially hunting literature, and in numerous paintings.

In Poland, he used to be used as a hunting dog for foxes, deer and even wolves, as he is one of the fastest land mammals. Even today you can see from its strong musculature and strong jaw that it was used for hunting in Poland’s harsh climate.
After almost completely disappearing during World War II and only a few dogs surviving, the Chart Polski has grown in popularity since the 1970s.

Chart Polski Accessories
